About Us

Our priority is quite simple – the health, safety and education of your child.

We aim to provide a real ‘home from home’ experience for your child, providing an interesting, inquisitive and exciting learning environment. Laura, our manager, has been with us for eight years. She is a level 3 Early Years Educator, and is fully trained in Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding, and she leads a staff team of eighteen practitioners, most of whom are qualified in childcare or are working towards a recognised childcare qualification.  The team are constantly updating their skills through in house and external training and qualifications.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework with regards to a key person approach.  They recommend:

The key person must help ensure that every child’s learning and care is tailored to help the child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for the child and build a relationship with the parents.”

To enable this, your allocated key person will be available to discuss your child’s progress with you at any time during their stay with us.  In order to help with the initial settling in period for a new child, we will ask you some questions about home routine and your child’s everyday habits.

We plan and assess children’s development at Highnam Day Nursery using the Birth to 5 matters statutory guidance and we share your child’s learning journey with you through the Early Years app ‘FAMLY’. This app helps us to keep in close contact with our registered families, sharing updates in our private news feed, share upcoming calendar dates, send private and group messages and to share their learning and development during their stay with us.
